Now, on the the locations!
Kekuli Bay has beautiful, wide-open fields with a beautiful lookout over Kalamalka Lake. It’s a spacious and peaceful location, with a little bit of beach access as well. The best time to visit is two hours before sunset, since the sun dips down behind the mountains here, bringing shade to this spot earlier. The lake also turns a vibrant turquoise during the summer months and has been named as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world:
Kalamalka Provincial Park is stunning! A wonderful go-to. It offers stunning lake views and a landscape that feel like Lake Como in Italy! There are plenty of photo spot options here, with the main lookout being a 20-25 minute walk. Perfect for those who like to be outside and adventure! Trails, the lake, and a viewpoint — this spot has it all. This is the lake that turns turquoise during the summer months and has been recognized as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world:
Pebble Beach is a quiet and sweet little beach in Lake Country. Parking is limited, so if you’re bringing a larger group (like a wedding party), carpooling is recommended. There are docks, weeping willows, and cute little beach spots here. Perfect if you want to jump in the lake too:
Oyama Lookout is accessible by 4×4, with about a 15-minute drive up a forestry road. The view of Woodlake and Kalamalka Lake is beautiful, and there’s also a forest area that adds variety to your photos:
Dilworth Mountain is great for spring photos, especially when the yellow flowers in Kelowna bloom in April! The park offers a mix of trees, open fields, and views of downtown Kelowna. It’s a great spot if you want to stay close to the city:
Mount Baldy gives a more rugged, desert-like feel with dry and open fields. It’s also a good spot for photos in April when the yellow flowers are in bloom. Sunrise and sunset photos work well here, with a field and the rolling hills. If you want to get to the top, it’s a steep 10-minute walk, so make sure to wear sturdy walking shoes! It’s worth the steep climb:
Kelowna Beachfront. There are several beach access spots along Kelowna’s lakeside, making it a good option if you want photos with the water in the background, or if you’d like to end the photo session by jumping off a dock. For my advice on which one would be good for you, reach out to me:
Back of Knox Mountain – If you’re looking for a beautiful view but don’t want a long hike, the backside of Knox Mountain is perfect! It’s only a 4-minute walk from the parking spot to the viewpoint, with views stretching from Kelowna to Vernon along Okanagan Lake. You’ll also find some nice forested areas and trails for variety:
Paul’s Tomb requires a 30 minute mild hike to reach it, and it’s so worth the mini hike. Once we get there, it feels like a little piece of Italy! Beautiful water and trails. The forested trail leads to a great view, and you can even cliff-jump or swim during your session. I have an underwater camera if this is something you’d be up for! It’s a great spot if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous:
Bertram Creek has a lake view, beach, and cool rocks, making it one of the most versatile spots for photos. It can be busier in the summer, but there are plenty of quieter spots to find if you want this location with more privacy:
Cedar Creek has a dog park beside it, making it a great choice if you’re bringing your pup along! It also has beach access area and open fields, quite similar and close to Bertram Creek:
Kalamoir Regional Park is best for morning or early afternoon sessions, as it’s located near a cliff and the sun dips behind it about three hours before the sun sets. It offers great views of Okanagan Lake and has fun trails that run right along the water. Gorgeous yellow flowers covering the fields here in April:
Giant’s Head Mountain is beautiful! It offers a stunning view of Summerland. The road to the top can sometimes be closed on Sundays or other days, so we’d have to make sure to plan ahead to ensure we can drive up on that day:
Munson Mountain has a gorgeous view of Penticton and the southern Okanagan Lake. It has field areas as well as a short 3-minute steep hike to the top. Definitely bring good shoes here since it’s pretty steep:
The K.V.R. Trail offers a beautiful view of the lake, with amazing California-looking cliff sides. This photo was taken during wildfire season, which is why it has a magical feel. Usually when it isn’t wildfire season, you can see more of the lake and cliffs:
Kaleden Hotel Park is a unique little spot! It’s a charming, historic venue that combines vintage charm with modern amenities. I would recommend this for a shorter photo session, or incorporated as one of two spots. It’s fun and different, but 20 minutes would be the maximum amount of time to spend here as it’s a pretty limited location with little variation:
There you have it, the top spots around Kelowna and in the Okanagan for photos.
